Fly fishing is a fantastic hobby.
You’re alone with nature, wrestling with fish to put food on the table.
Unfortunately, only a few kids understand this. They see fly fishing as boring and dull. That’s why we’re assuming you haven’t invited them to your next fly fishing trip.
But you should! Here are 3 reasons why:
- The Fishing Experience
Nothing is more exhilarating than getting a hearty trout. By giving them a good experience of catching fish and eating what they caught, you might imprint something they will carry for the rest of their lives. If you don’t work, you won’t get to eat.
- The Peace of Nature
Kids have limited attention spans nowadays. They are distracted by the slightest things. Peace of mind is something they might have not yet discovered or experienced.
Bring them to the backcountry. A place where it’s tranquil, where you will literally hear the wind and waves. No vehicles, wi-fi, cartoons or pollution. Make them feel what they have missed out.
- Do other activities together
A fly fishing trip gives you an opportunity to bond with your kids. Explore the beach together, gather around a campfire and roast some marshmallows. Go boating or kayaking. Spending quality time will mean the world to them.
Bringing kids to trips can be exhausting. You have to micromanage and plan the whole thing out. However, it will be worth it. They will see things in a new perspective and gather a million memories they will talk about for years to come.
